Objective: The research aimed to determine the traditional and complementary medicine (TCM) methods used by elderly people during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Material and Methods: The descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 372 elderly individuals in a city center during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The data were collected by telephone interview method using the ''Survey Form'' created by the researchers. The questionnaire form consists of questions to determine the sociodemographic data of elderly people, the practices made to protect against COVID-19, and the TCM methods they use during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics (number, percentage, mean, standard deviation). Significance was accepted p<0.05. Results: 55.4% of the elderly people participating in the research are women, 79.8% are married and 34.9% are illiterate. 56.7% have at least one chronic disease and 55.9% are constantly taking medication. In the pandemic, 76.9 % of the elderly used the TCM methods to protect themselves from COVID 19, the most preferred method was herbal products (92.3%). It was determined that they mostly consumed rosehip tea (28.0%), stinging nettle (25.9%) and sage (22.4%) as herbal products. Conclusion: It was determined that elderly people used herbal products from TCM methods at a high rate in order to fight the virus during the pandemic process. In order to benefit from the positive effects of medicinal plants on health, it is important to store, prepare and consume in an appropriate amount. It is recommended that geriatric nurses, in particular, provide training and consultancy services in order to prevent the dangers arising from misuse of plants.
