Objective: This study aimed to determine whether there was a change in the oral hygiene habits of the patients who applied to Afyonkarahisar Oral Health Center during the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic period compared to the pre-pandemic period. Material and Methods: The survey was conducted with 200 participants (30 children, 170 adults) who were admitted to Afyonkarahisar Oral Health Center between the dates 15.11.2020 and 30.11.2020. Those who are completely healthy as ASA standards and whose ages differ between 10 to 65 were taken into study. Pregnancy was considered as an excluding criterion for female patients. The study protocol was conducted in line with the principles of the Helsinki Declaration and with the approval of the Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Board of Clinical Ethics Committee (6.11.2020-2020/496). İnformed consent was obtained from all participants or their legal representatives. The survey study consisted of seven questions including demographic data and tooth brushing routines in the morning and at the night before the pandemic and during this period. Results: An increasing was observed in toothbrushing frequency in the morning and at the night in female patients (p<0.05). Statistically, a significant difference was not detected in morning toothbrushing habits in male patients (p>0.05). It was detected that, ın female and male, toothbrushing habits at the night were increased in the pandemic period comparing to the pre-pandemic period (p<0.05). Whether morning or night, brushing habits did not change in the group of pediatric patients (p>0.05). Conclusion: Increasing in toothbrushing habits among adult patients during the COVID-19 Pandemic is promising. However, the same improvement in the pediatric population is expected to be seen in the future.
