Impact of Perceived Social Support on Traumatic Stress in Children Who are 9-15 Aged and Sexual Abused

ÖZET
Amaç: Cinsel istismara maruz kalmış çocuklarda ve ergenlerde sosyal desteğin travmatik strese etkisini belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırma, Kocaeli ilinde yaşayan, yaş aralığı 9-15 yıl olan cinsel istismara maruz kalan 50 çocukla yapılmıştır. Çocukların sosyodemografik özellikleri, yaşadıkları cinsel istismar türleri, sosyal destek algıları ve travmatik stres tepkileri arasındaki ilişkilere bakılmıştır. Araştırmada, araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan Sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu, Çocuklar İçin Sosyal Desteği Değerlendirme Ölçeği ve Çocuk ve Gençlerde Travma Sonrası Stres Tepki Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Sosyal destek aile alt ölçeğiyle travmatik stres arasında anlamlı ilişki saptanmıştır. Sosyal destek toplam puanlarıyla travmatik stres arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunamamıştır. Yaş değişkeni ve penetrasyon varlığı ile travmatik stres arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Yaş değişkeniyle sosyal destek arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Sonuç: Araştırmada, yaş arttıkça cinsel istismar riskinin arttığı, yaş arttıkça sosyal desteğin azaldığı ve yaş arttıkça travmatik stres belirtilerinin arttığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Travmatik stresle özellikle aileden gelen sosyal destek arasında anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Aile desteği arttıkça travmatik stresin azaldığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of this investigation is to detect impact of social support on traumatic stress in children and adolescents who are sexual abused. Material and Methods: This study was made with 50 children WHO lived in Kocaeli, 9-15 aged and sexual abused. Some relationships that children's sociodemographic properties, types of sexual abuse, social support perceptions and traumatic stress reaction were analyzed. Sociodemographic information form that was prepared by researcher, social support appraisals scale for children and child posttraumatic stress reaction index were used. Results: There was significant relationship that social support family subscale and traumatic stress. It wasn't found significant relationship between social support total score and traumatic stress. It was found significant relationship between age, penetration variables and traumatic stress. It was found significant relationship between age variables and social support. Conclusion: In this study, there was positive relationship between age and sexual abusement, there was negative relationship between age and social support and there was positive relationship between age and traumatic stress reactions, were found. It was found significant relationship between traumatic stress and social support that was provided by family. It was found that while family support is increasing, traumatic stress is decreasing.

8. LAW AND AUTHORISATION TO FOLLOW

Turkish Law will be applied in practicing, interpreting the hereby "Terms of Use" and managing the emerging legal relationships within this "Terms of Use" in case of finding element of foreignness, except for the rules of Turkish conflict of laws. Ankara Courts and Enforcement Offices are entitled in any controversy happened or may happen due to hereby contract.

9. CLOSING AND AGREEMENT

Hereby "Terms of Use" come into force when announced in the "SITE" by "Turkiye Klinikleri". The users are regarded to agree to hereby contract terms by using the "SITE".
