ABSTRACT
Objective: Surgical site infections have been an important problem since historical times; it is one of the topics that have a high impact on mortality and morbidity in patients who have undergone surgical operation and that continues to be relevant. This analysis method, which has been used in all branches of science in recent years, draws attention in the field of nursing. For this reason, the study aims to reveal the current status of the literature with visual network mapping and bibliometric analysis method by examining the publications published in the journals scanned in the Scopus database on surgical site infections. Material and Methods: In the research, bibliometric analysis, Vos-viewer and MS excel programs were used. The data were obtained by searching Giresun University online library Elsevier SCOPUS database with the keyword ''surgical site infection'' (https://www.scopus.com/search/form.uri?display=basic#basic). Results: As a result of the research, 5,250 studies on surgical site infections were reached. It was determined that 118 studies were in the field of nursing and were research articles. It was determined that the AORN Journal (n=38) had the most research on surgical site infection, and the most cited study was ''Evidence for Using Chlorhexidine Gluconate Preoperative Cleansing to Reduce the Risk of Surgical Site Infection''. Conclusion: Research on surgical site infection decreased in 2020 and increased in 2021. It was determined that the studies on the subject were limited to countries such as the United States, England, Australia and Türkiye, and the keywords used extensively were surgical site infection, cesarean section and wound care. Based on the results, it is thought that the research will contribute to new researchers and the literature in terms of revealing general trends in the field of nursing.
