ABSTRACT
Objective: In this study, it was aimed to investigate the prevalence of burnout, job satisfaction of research assistant physicians and to determine the factors that may be related. Material and Methods: The study is of a cross-sectional type. 324 physicians were included in the study. Ethical permission was obtained for the study. For the research, a data collection form containing 69 questions was created by the researchers. The first part of the questionnaire form includes questions about sociodemographic characteristics and characteristics related to work environment, and the second part includes Maslach Burnout Inventory and the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale. The data collection form was applied to the participants using face-to-face interview method. SPSS 15.0 package program was used for data entry and analysis. In summarizing numerical data; arithmetic mean, standard deviation, median, minimum and maximum values were used. Numbers and percentages were used in summarizing categorical data. Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis test, Spearman Correlation analysis were used in the analysis of numerical data. The effect of variables on the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale score was analyzed using a multivariate linear regression model. Statistically p<0.05 was considered significant. Results: Of the 324 physicians included in the study, 66.70% work in internal, 28.40% in surgery, 4.90% in basic sciences. A statistically significant difference was found between participants' Maslach Burnout Inventory and Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale mean scores and their participation in decision-making processes, doing their job, having conflicts with colleagues, preferring to be a physician, and satisfaction with the work environment (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the research, it was determined that the burnout and job satisfaction of the research assistants were related to the workplace environment and conditions. It is possible for physicians to provide a quality health service by reducing burnout levels and increasing job satisfaction. Factors that may be related to this should be evaluated and tried to be improved by managers.
