ABSTRACT
Objective: Traditional and complementary medicine (TCAM) continues to exist in our country with its clinical and academic mission. In this study, it was aimed to retrospectively examine the people who applied to the TCAM application center in our hospital and their transaction data. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 2-year patient and procedure data of a TCAM practice center were scanned. Patient and procedure data were accessed through the hospital's automation system. Statistics were evaluated using the SPSS 20.0 package program, and p values below 0.05 were considered significant. Results: A total of 2,774 patients were evaluated, the median age was 50.0, the number of female patients was 1,900 (68.5%), and the median number of sessions was 1.0. The most frequent patient enrollment season is winter (n=784, 28.3%). Among the procedures, ozone therapy is the most frequently applied (n=856, 49.9%). The most frequently repeated procedure per patient is ozone therapy (median: 10). When the transactions were evaluated in terms of gender, the difference was significant (p<0.001). The most common reason for admission of patients who underwent TCAM procedures was pain (n=1,886, 68.0%). At the end of the sessions, the average number of leeches used per patient was 20.4±1.5. Of the acupuncture sessions, 242 (51.2%) were ear, 54 (11.4%) body, 177 (37.4%) ear+body applications. Of the maggot therapy sessions, 46 (85.2%) were applied to the feet and 8 (14.8%) were applied to other body parts. Conclusion: It was observed that ozone therapy procedures were performed more frequently in the TCAM application center, and those who applied with complaints of pain were more common. Gender and season were found to be effective in practices.
