ABSTRACT
Objective: In this study; it was aimed to examine the satisfaction levels of the patients who have undergone abdominal surgery from the interventions related to pain management applied in the postoperative period. Material and Methods: The study was conducted in a descriptive type with n=167 patients hospitalized in the general surgery unit of the education and research hospital. Quality Improvement in Postoperative Pain Management Questionnaire was used for data collection. Data collection was done by the researchers using face-to-face interview method. In data analysis, descriptive methods, Independent Sample ttest, ANOVA and 'post hoc' analysis were used with SPSS 25.0 IBM statistical program. Results: In the study; 31.7% of the participants were in the 40-55 age range, 58.7% were male, 82% were married, 31.7% had appendectomy. It was found that analgesic drugs were administered to all patients, and non-drug interventions were performed in 32.3% of them. It was found that patients with small bowel perforation repair and enterostomia felt the highest level of pain and satisfaction (p=0.000). Conclusion: Nurses should provide detailed information to patients about surgical pain in the preoperative period, and in the postoperative period, pain management strategies should be applied not only with drug methods but also with non-drug methods.
