With the increase in the lifespan, the number of patients with low-vision due to reasons like age-related macular degeneration have also increased. Thus, the interest of ophthalmologists in helping and rehabilitating patients with low-vision has increased. Yet, such help and rehabilitation are not only prescribing telescopes and magnifying glass. The success of rehabilitation is dependent to prescribing low-vision device appropriate to patient's age, diagnosis and expectation, proper training, the stability and localization of the patient's preferred retinal field, the amount of light and Kelvin grade used during reading, and the selection of filter/filters suitable for the diagnosis of the patient. Although manufacturers suggest the amount of light, Kelvin grade, and filters, the product should be tested on the patient before prescribing. In this review, we aimed to give information about issues to be considered during light and filter selection in low vision rehabilitation.
