Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the incidence of impacted and transmigrated canine teeth and present their demographic and radiographic characteristics. Material and Methods: This study was conducted on images of patients over the age of 15 who applied to Akdeniz University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology for different reason between January 2018 and January 2020. 7989 panoramic radiographic images of patients were scanned retrospectively and the presence of impacted canine teeth, localization, number of impacted canin teeth and transmigration status were recorded. In addition, information on demographic variables such as age and gender was collected for each patient. After four week, the presence of transmigration in the impacted teeth was re-evaluated and intra-observer agreement was evaluated. SPSS was used for data analysis and p<0.05 was considered significant. Result: Of the images included in the study, 3,493 (43.7%) were male and 4,496 (56.3%) were female patients. While one or more impacted canine teeth were detected in 204 (2.6%) patients, 31 (0.4%) patients had transmigrated canine. The incidence of transmigrated canine among impacted canine teeth was 15.2%. While both impacted canine teeth and transmiggated canine teeth were more common in the maxilla than mandible, no significant difference was found between the gender. Conclusion: The presence of transmigre canine was found to be significantly higher in the maxilla compared to the mandible. This situation is new information for the literature and it is recommended to examine the results of the study and the reasons of this situation in further studies.
