ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of this research is to investigate the goals scored in the 2022 Women's European Football Championship by analyzing them in different categories. Material and Methods: In the research, 95 goals scored in a total of 31 matches were examined. The research data were collected by watching all the matches played and taking notes about the determined parameters. Goals were analyzed in 9 different categories (time of the goals, the shape of the goal kick and its occurrence, the number of contact with the ball before the goal kick, the area where the goal was scored, the location of the goal scorer, the area of the assist, the location of the assister, the effect of the first goal on the result). Percentage and frequency distribution from descriptive statistics were used in the analysis of the data. Results: As a result of the analysis, 51% of the goals scored in the 2022 Women's European Championship were in the 2nd half, 55% as a result of organized attack, 70% with feet, 71% with a single contact, it has been determined that 82% of them were thrown from inside the penalty area and 60% from the 3rd area determined within the penalty area. At the same time, the players who scored the most goals in the tournament were strikers with 26 (29%) goals, the most assists (10 assists, 16%) were made from the No. 1 region, and the position of the players with the most assists was the midfield central and wingers (18 assists each, 59% total). It was also revealed that 76% of the teams that scored the first goal during the tournament won the match. Conclusion: Considering the results of this analysis, the goal areas numbered 3 and 4 in the penalty area in terms of offense to the coaches; use assist zones 1, 2, 5 and 6 more effectively; in terms of defense, they defend these defined zones within the penalty area more effectively than other zones; since it is important that the football players other than the strikers also contribute to the score, it is recommended that the teams plan their technical-tactical studies accordingly.
