ÖZET
 Amaç: Adli antropolojide iskelet kalıntılarının değerlendirilmesinde en önemli adımlardan biri cinsiyetin doğru tespit edilmesidir. Şekli, morfolojik yapısı ve gelişim süreci her bireyde farklılık gösteren frontal sinüsün radyolojik yöntemlerle görüntülenmesi, bireylerin cinsiyetlerinin belirlenmesine olanak sağlar. Çalışmamızda, konik ışınlı bilgisayarlı tomografi (KIBT) kullanılarak frontal sinüsün belirleyici olduğu durumlarda, Anadolu popülasyonunda kadın ve erkek bireyler arasındaki dimorfizmi belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntemler: 18-65 yaş grubunda 40 kadın 40 erkek 80 hastaya ait KIBT görüntüleri üzerinden frontal sinüs yüksekliği, frontal sinüs genişliği, frontal sinüs hacmi, frontal sinüs derinliği, frontal sinüs tabanının ön arka çapı, frontal sinüs ön duvarının kalınlığı ölçüm değerleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Bu parametreler için yapılan power analizinde örneklem büyüklüğü seçimi için α: 0,05 ve β: 0,80 alınarak 6 power 3,1 istatistiksel analiz programı ile hesaplamalar yapılmıştır. Ölçümlerde Planmeca Promax 3D Max ve Romexis_Viewer (ver. 3.2.0, Planmeca) yazılımı kullanılmıştır. Kadın ve erkek gruplar arasındaki fark bağımsız iki örneklem t-testi ile karşılaştırılmıştır. Cinsiyetler arasındaki farklar lineer discriminant fonksiyonu analizi ile bireylerin yaşlarının cinsiyet tespitine etkisi lojistik regresyon analizi ile doğrulanmıştır. Bulgular: Frontal sinüs yüksekliği (p=0,001), frontal sinüs genişliği, (p= 0.049) frontal sinüs hacmi (p=0,001), frontal sinüs derinliği (p<0,001), frontal sinüs ön arka uzunluk (p=0,002) değerleri arasında anlamlı bir fark gözlemlenirken, frontal sinüs ön duvar kalınlığı (p=0,170) ölçümlerinde iki cinsiyet arasında anlamlı bir fark gözlenmemiştir. Sonuç: Seksen hastadan yalnızca birinde frontal sinüs aplazisine rastlanmıştır. Parametreler, farklı yaş gruplarında değerlendirildiğinde cinsiyet tayininde etkisi olmadığı görülmüştür. Erkek bireylerin frontal sinüs boyutlarının kadın bireylere kıyasla büyük olduğu ve cinsiyetin %78,8 oranında doğru tayin edilebileceği gözlenmiştir.

ABSTRACT
 Objective: One of the most important steps in the evaluation of skeletal remains in forensic anthropology is the correct identification of gender. Radiological imaging of the frontal sinus, whose shape, morphological structure and development process is different in each individual, allows the determination of the gender of the individuals. Therefore, in this study, it was aimed to determine the dimorphism between male and female individuals in the Anatolian population when the frontal sinus was determinant by using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Material and Methods: The measurements of frontal sinus height, frontal sinus width, frontal sinus volume, frontal sinus depth, anterior posterior diameter of the frontal sinus floor, and anterior wall thickness of the frontal sinus wall were compared over 80 CBCT images of 40 female and 40 male in the 18-65 age group. In the power analysis made for these parameters, α: 0.05 and β: 0.80 were used for the sample size selection and calculations were made with 6 power 3.1 statistical analysis program. Planmeca Promax 3D Max and Romexis_Viewer (ver. 3.2.0, Planmeca) software were used in the measurements. The difference between male and female groups was compared with two independent samples t-test. Differences between genders were confirmed by linear discriminant function analysis and the effects of age of individuals on gender determination validated by logistic regression analysis. Results: While a significant difference was observed in frontal sinus height (p=0.001), frontal sinus width (p= 0.049), frontal sinus volume (p=0.001), frontal sinus depth (p<0.001), frontal sinus anterior posterior length (p=0.002), no significant difference was observed in frontal sinus anterior wall thickness (p=0.170) measurements between the two genders. Conclusion: Only one out of 80 patients had frontal sinus aplasia. When the parameters were evaluated in different age groups, it was found that there was no effect on gender determination. It was observed that the frontal sinus dimensions of the male subjects were large compared to the female subjects and that the gender could be accurately determined at 78.8%.

Turkish Law will be applied in practicing, interpreting the hereby "Terms of Use" and managing the emerging legal relationships within this "Terms of Use" in case of finding element of foreignness, except for the rules of Turkish conflict of laws. Ankara Courts and Enforcement Offices are entitled in any controversy happened or may happen due to hereby contract.

9. CLOSING AND AGREEMENT

Hereby "Terms of Use" come into force when announced in the "SITE" by "Turkiye Klinikleri". The users are regarded to agree to hereby contract terms by using the "SITE".
