Objective: This cross-sectional study was planned to investigate the effect of sports on static balance performance in 9-12 age group judoist and non-sports girls. Material and Methods: The study included 24 girls from 9-12 age group, 12 of whom were licensed for Salihli Belediyespor's judo team and 12 of them did not exercise sports. Participants were divided into judoist and control groups. Static equilibrium measurements of the volunteers who participated in the study were performed by using pedobarography device. The judo and the control group were not tired on the day of the test. The measurement was initiated once the volunteer pedobarography platform reached and stabilized. The measurement was made for 30 seconds and 50 Hz frekans. The tests were performed with double-legged eyes open, dominant legged eyes open and double-legged eyes closed. The obtained sway area (Area), sway distance (Dist), sway variance (Var), front-back sway deviation (APexc) and right-left sway deviation (LRexc) data were analyzed in the SPSS 15.0 program. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test was carried out to determine whether the groups were normally distributed. The Mann-Whitney U test, a non-parametric test, was used to compare independent variables with no normal distribution. An interpretation of the results was considered p <0.05 significant. Results: When the demographic data of the groups were compared, body mass index was significantly higher in the control group. However, it was shown that this situation did not make any difference between the groups in terms of static equilibrium parameters. No statistically significant difference was found between the groups. Conclusions: The effect of judo sport on static equilibrium parameters in 9-12 age group girls showed no significant difference when compared with the data of girls of the same age group. It was speculated that this might be due to the fact that the sporty training intensity is close to the level of daily play activity.
